Here is the Church; Here is the Steeple…

I'm a preacher's kid and when I was around 5 - 8 years old we lived in a house connected to our church.

That might sound like torture but I absolutely loved it. For one thing, we moved there from a smallish city home and I was in awe the size of this one. To Know You is to Love You

One day after school when my son was a first grader I got a call from the Mom of one of his little friends. Apparently the little friend went home and told his mom that my son said there's no Tooth Fairy. 

The Mom was none too happy about this.

When my oldest daughter was in fifth grade I got a call from the Mom of one of my daughter's little friends saying that my daughter promised hers she'd do the talent show with her and then changed her mind.

Making Peace With Myself

It was Christmas Eve and there were probably hundreds of people around but I don't remember anyone else. I was kneeling. The room was dimmed, but there was light coming in from the outside. Maybe the moon reflecting off of snow. I don't know. I was at a church. I was at an altar. I was crying and begging for God to take away the constant buzzing in my head. It had been there for years and I couldn't make it go away.

I was so tired of it. Just tired period. Lost, directionless, burdened. Walking around like I had a weighted hoodie over my head and body.
